Kaiyodo, a company with an established reputation for producing high-quality museum goods, has created an exquisite figurine of the "Wind Gods and Thunder Gods Screen by Ogata Korin" (Important Cultural Property), owned by the Tokyo National Museum.
This is an official product sold only at the Tokyo National Museum. The sculpture was created by the studio of Takayuki Takeya, one of the most famous sculptors in the hobby industry.
[Wind God and Thunder God Screen by Ogata Korin]
The wind god, who controls the wind and holds a wind bag in both hands, and the thunder god, who is beating a drum, are depicted as a pair in the form of demons.
Although the layout is meticulously calculated and the image is tense, the expression on the face is somehow peaceful. Korin was devoted to various performing arts, such as Noh and the tea ceremony, which were popular during the Edo period, and these cultural activities greatly influenced his style of painting.
The innovative design sensibility of this "Wind God and Thunder God" painting, which was based on traditional culture such as the performing arts and classical literature, was very well received by Kyoto's aristocrats and townspeople.
