Kaiyodo, a company renowned for producing high-quality museum merchandise, has created an exquisitely crafted figure of the "Fujin Raijin-zu Byobu" (Folding Screen of the Wind and Thunder Gods) by Ogata Korin, a designated Important Cultural Property, which is housed in the Tokyo National Museum.
This is official merchandise sold exclusively at the Tokyo National Museum. The sculpture was created by the workshop of Takayuki Takeya, one of the most renowned sculptors in the hobby industry.

The wind god, who controls the wind, holds a windbag in both hands, while the thunder god, who beats a drum, is depicted as a pair in the form of demons.
Despite the meticulously calculated layout and tense atmosphere, there's a certain tranquility to the faces. Korin was deeply involved in various performing arts that flourished during the Edo period, such as Noh theater and the tea ceremony, and these cultural activities greatly influenced his painting style.
This innovative design sensibility, exemplified by the "Wind God and Thunder God" painting, which draws on traditional culture such as performing arts and classical literature, was greatly appreciated by the aristocracy and townspeople of Kyoto.
