説明

Born in Tokyo, Takagi studied a variety of materials at an art school in San Francisco, and returned to Japan after spending some time based in New York. His style is wide-ranging, from painting to embroidery. However, one thing that can be said consistently across his wide range of methods is that his works contain a certain sense of discomfort and contradiction, and that "people" almost never appear as motifs. His motifs are often animals or anthropomorphized animals, and their expressions are sometimes cute, and at other times they bare their fangs as they glare at the viewer. There is an anonymity and mystery that can only be achieved with works that feature animals as the main characters, creating a strange sense of discomfort that is a mixture of familiarity and strangeness.
