| Koji Kasatani He studied pottery techniques in Florence, Italy, and after returning to Japan, he encountered bananas while continuing to create works that went beyond the boundaries of pottery, and has continued to create banana-based works ever since. I love bananas. The cute yellow color, sweet and delicious, it makes you feel happy, the feel when you hold it in your hand, the nice smell, the changing color and sugar spot patterns, the beautiful big leaves, it's good for blood pressure, the subtle folds on the underside of the skin, the impressive appearance, etc. I thought the shape of bananas was interesting, so I tried making one and found that I could express various things with them, which made it even more interesting, so I made more, and before I knew it, I had been making bananas for about 17 years.I think bananas were the theme I was given to create. Recently, when I meet someone for the first time, they say to me, "Oh, you're the banana guy, right?" and when they say that to me, I feel strangely happy. |
