![]() ![]() ![]() The UNISUS UNIT, which is made up of 16 parts assembled to create a three-dimensional silhouette, was redesigned in collaboration between Mick Itaya and NEWSED. The material used is acrylic, which is scrap material that is produced during processing and dead stock because there is no clear use for it. The acrylic, which comes in distinctive colors and patterns, is made by Tokyo Acrylic (Sanko Ltd.) to create accessories, store fixtures, and other items. Each piece is made with original materials such as glitter and fabric, and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways depending on how it is combined and the angle from which it is viewed. ABOUT "NEWSED" |
"NEWSED" is an upcycling brand that takes old items and gives them new life by looking at them from a new perspective. To date, we have developed and manufactured a variety of products that utilize scraps of xylophone keyboards and recycled seat belts, including the "Acryl Tag Plate," made from acrylic scraps from factories that produce accessory parts and store fixtures. We don't just make use of the materials, but we also place importance on the production background behind waste and offcuts, and develop products by creating a story about why they are being transformed into that form. |
